The Prägrad Castle ruins are located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Prägrad. They lie on a rocky outcrop above the marshy valley floor between Feldkirchen and Lake Ossiach. The Prägrad Castle ruins are the ruins of a hilltop castle, and based on its location, they are considered to be a hillside castle. Of the once much more extensive complex, the pentagonal Romanesque keep has been relatively well preserved thanks to its excellent masonry technique. The four-story tower dates from the first half of the 12th century. The remaining components, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, have almost completely disappeared. Only a few remains of the walls are hidden in the bushes. The entire complex is surrounded by dense young forest. Clearing the area would enhance the ruins considerably and at least delay their further deterioration. The valley castle at the foot of the castle hill no longer exists. It was demolished in 1967. The name "Prägrad" is Slavic and means something like "area in front of the castle" or "outer bailey." It was first documented in 1166. The ruins, along with the surrounding forests, have belonged to the Buttazoni family for decades. The ruins are freely accessible at all times.

Those who are not afraid of the steep climb will be rewarded with a great view and a beautiful ruin.

The Liebenfels castle ruins, perched on an isolated rocky hill above the village of Pulst, are among the most impressive medieval fortifications in Carinthia. Its two striking keeps stand out unmistakably from the hilly landscape of central Carinthia and tell of noble power and rule in times gone by.

Glanegg Castle was rebuilt by a private association. In summer there are also events at the castle. A musical evening at the castle is a real highlight in these old walls. It has a very special charm. The tours are very personal and informative.

The Glanegg castle ruins are worth a visit. A family trip with smaller children is a good option, as the castle can be easily reached with a short walk of around 20 minutes and a rather steep climb. Parking spaces are available on the main road or directly at the castle near the bus stop next to the castle. The opening times from June 1st, 2020 to September 30th, 2020 are currently: Thursday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guided tours take place at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The castle is closed in rainy weather. Admission: 3, - EUR for adults and children / adolescents are free You can call 0664-8255940 inquire about the tours with Ms. Melanie Feldkircher and / or register. But is not necessary. The castle association has beautifully restored the castle ruins in the last 24 years and now offers guided tours. Since the area is not very busy, we had an individual two-person tour and had a nice chat with the tour guide over a small drink. You can visit the renovated castle chapel, the vaults and the keep with the tour. There are also many nice stories (about a hermit in the castle, a suspected secret passage ...). The castle regularly hosts events and can also be rented for celebrations etc. There are several very nice rooms and weatherproof outdoor areas at the castle. There is a castle beer and a castle wine.

A small castle steeped in history, it's very beautiful from the outside. It would be great to have a look inside.
