In the early 1990s, I had the privilege of discovering and getting to know the "Aichelburg Ruins," as it was then called. The medieval castle was completely overgrown, and it was very difficult to find a way to the walls. The interior had collapsed and was also overgrown. It's wonderful that the ruins have been brought back to life and now bear the name "Aichelberg Castle Ruins." They deserve the distinction of being "absolutely worth seeing." You sit down on a marble bench, perhaps drink a glass of wine in the shade of the linden trees, or simply dip your feet in the turquoise water. And suddenly you understand why people used to build avenues to the lake: not out of a desire for representation, but to create a dignified path to happiness. If you're in a hurry, it's best to stay outside. If you have the heart for it, you can enter.

From 1952 onwards, the castle hotel served as a filming location for film and television productions. The most famous of these was the television series "Ein Schloß am Wörthersee" (1990 to 1992). A memorial bust of the lead actor, Roy Black, is located in the café diagonally across from the castle. Gunter Sachs acquired Velden Castle in 1990 and had it extensively renovated.
