The Cave of Hercules is surrounded by various legends. One of the most famous stories claims that the cave was once used by Hercules, the famous hero of Greek mythology. According to legend, Hercules rested here while erecting the Pillars of Hercules, which mark the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. Another story says that the grotto was a mysterious place where Hercules planned his adventures and regenerated his strength. We made this hike to visit the caves facing the sea. Unfortunately, they are only accessible at low tide. Instead, we took a tour of prehistoric rock formations created by the sea, which we really enjoyed. It was a bit of an adventure.
