The Hervidero Waterfall is a double waterfall on the Guadalix River, nestled in a rocky canyon and surrounded by riverside vegetation. It can be reached via a flat and easy 7 km (round trip) route starting from San Agustín del Guadalix, ideal for family hikes.

Beautiful views of the Lozoya reservoir

It is a very wild place but of great beauty. It is difficult (and dangerous) to walk through it because there is a fairly blurred path between the rocks. The stream flows down with great speed and noise, forming continuous jumps, jets and waterfalls. To the right there are some very tall vertical rocks (tolmos) which are the ones that can later be seen from below in the Litueros Waterfall. There is another path even worse than the previous one that goes down to the stream and the waterfall at the bottom. (Normal people should abstain, only for mountaineers).

Of great beauty and easy to access (be careful, there are some winding stairs) they are one of these little-known corners of Madrid. In the bed of the Guadalix River and almost at the mouth of its spectacular canyon, the waterfall depends on the opening of the reservoir, upstream, which guarantees water flow practically all year round.

The path of the Barranco joins the towns of Patones de Arriba and Abajo. It runs parallel to the Patones stream, which is the one that has excavated the ravine in the limestone rock of the walls that surround it.

On the Puebla de la Sierra highway you come across this viewpoint over the Puebla river gorge. The landscape is overwhelming. The vertical walls of bare rock stand before the green ridges of the mountains and the sky. It is an ideal place to immortalize with a photograph.

The Lozoya is an important tributary of the Jarama along whose 91 kilometer route six reservoirs have been built. Right at this point, the valley takes the shape of a canyon due to its proximity to the El Villar reservoir, where the course of the river narrows to a great extent.

The Cañada de la Caleriza is a winding path that runs along the banks of the Lozoya River. This section coincides with the beginning of the GR 88, which runs through the provinces of Madrid, Segovia and Guadalajara. The Lozoya is a tributary of the Jarama along whose 91-kilometer route six reservoirs have been built.
