The Keukenhof flower park is world famous for the many tulips that bloom in spring. What many people don't know is that the flower park is part of a much larger estate, namely the Keukenhof Castle Estate, and that this estate has beautiful castle gardens that can be visited free of charge all year round. The Keukenhof Castle Estate has more than two hundred hectares of forest, meadows and beautifully landscaped castle gardens. More than eighteen monuments can be found in the historical area. While strolling through the beautiful gardens you will come across many works of art that make every walk special.

Located away from the Keukenhof, it is a pleasant relaxation to walk through the almost deserted castle park. The Kasteel and the Landgoed are also worth seeing.

The Fort at Aalsmeer, also known as Fort Rijsenhout, dates from the years 1890-1895. The tank buildings built 10 years later meant the completion of the fort in 1905. It was part of the Amsterdam defense line. During the mobilization in the First World War, the fort was manned by approximately 280 troops. Since 2009, the CRASH Museum of Airborne Warfare and Resistance '40-'45 has been located in the fort, which is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The castle is open to the inside only in the afternoon. However, it is still worth a visit outside of these times, as the outside area is not very well designed. In addition to many bicycle parking spaces, there are 2 seating areas with a bench and table where you can have a good snack.
