A beautifully preserved private castle dating back to the 16th century. The castle itself is closed to the public, but it occasionally opens for concerts. Nearby, you’ll find Ova Church with stunning ceiling paintings (open May–September) and a small summer café serving waffles on weekends – a perfect stop on your hike.

The path can be followed further along the water, even if no path can be seen on the map.

The baroque castle of Läckö has a very special reputation in Sweden. Like a fairytale castle, it stands directly on the shore of Lake Vänern and attracts thousands of visitors to concerts and exhibitions in summer. In 2001 it was voted Sweden's most beautiful castle.

On warm summer days, the small beach invites you to swim, but be careful, Lake Vänern is also very refreshing in summer.

At the foot of the castle hill in a westerly direction there is a small public boat harbor, which can be accessed by boats with a draft of up to 2.50 m. The harbor is safe in all wind directions. There is a pier to the north of the castle, which the Göta Canal Rederiaktiebolag ships regularly call at. The castle is open to visitors in summer. Operas are regularly performed in the castle courtyard in summer.
