🚧 **Barrage du Lac du Mirgenbach – The Technical Heart of the Lake** At the southern end of **Lac du Mirgenbach** is the **dam (barrage)**, which serves to regulate the water and cool the nearby **Cattenom Nuclear Power Plant**. The facility is not open to the public, but is easily visible from the paths around the lake. 🌊 The dam marks the transition between technology and nature: Here, the water flows in controlled channels, creating an exciting interplay of industrial function and scenic tranquility. **Tip:** Those who walk the circular path around the lake have a good view of the dam from the eastern shore – particularly interesting for technology enthusiasts and landscape photographers.

A magnificent walk to do, birds to observe, a very well maintained site. You can do this walk with your family, it will allow your children to discover the beauty of nature and many species of birds. You will be in a different world. At the end of the walk, you can eat at the "Chalet", a very welcoming bar-restaurant. An exotic site.

The origins of the “Baggerweieren” can be found in the 1950s/1960s, when work in the local sand pits was stopped and the resulting pools filled with water from underground sources. In 2020, the municipality of Schengen, owner of the site, entrusted the management and operation of the recreation area to the “Erliefnis Baggerweier” association. Swimming, sunbathing, walking, dining, just a few of the offers to suit the personal needs of visitors. A beach area is reserved for dog owners and their four-legged friends, and rowing boats can be rented. The facility is open from May 1st to September 15th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and, weather permitting, until 8 p.m.
