Oasis of peace in the village of Jacarilla

The municipality of Cox is located in the province of Alicante, surrounded by orchards at the foot of the Callosa mountain range. At the top of a hill is Cox Castle, of Arab origin and one of the oldest, not only in the Valencian Community, but in Spain.

Along this section near San Miguel de Salinas you can pedal peacefully and enjoy the views of the Conesa Castle. An old fortress of Muslim origin that today acts as a restaurant and venue for events.

As we approach the Castle, the figure of the Saint dominating and standing out on the mountain will stand out. El Cristo in particular was founded in 1926 and was raised again in 1951 after the Spanish civil war. We will access the castle by the "old road of Monteagudo" that years ago linked the roads of Alicante and Castilla. Good place to take a walk and observe the city. There is also a museum that you can visit. If we go in hot weather, do not forget the cap and water to hydrate.

With the figure of the Saint jutting out from the 140m-high pinnacle, the castle ruins below used to dominate what is known as the Huerta de Murcia. El Cristo in particular was founded in 1926 and was rebuilt in 1951 after the Spanish civil war. You reach the top of the castle through what is known as the "old path of Monteagudo" that used to join the paths of Alicante and Castile, giving importance to the town over the years and the different cultures (Argaric, Iberian, Roman and Arabs).
