It's no longer worth a visit, as the castle can only be viewed from a distance through the fence. The gardens are also no longer open to visitors.

For over 430 years, Ahrensburg Castle has been one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Schleswig-Holstein. During this long period there were joys and sorrows for the castle residents, as well as phases of decline and economic hardship instead of wealth and splendor. The castle museum is impressive with evidence of a long history, from the Renaissance to historicism, and modernity is also represented. Today the castle is not only a museum of Schleswig-Holstein aristocratic culture and the landmark of the city of Ahrensburg, but also offers its visitors a variety of opportunities to discover it from completely different sides. https://www.schloss-ahrensburg.de/das-schloss/

Very close to the lock, Henneberg Castle stands on a specially created 15-meter-high hill. It looks like a fairy tale with its battlements and two towers, in the middle of an enchanted garden with trees. It was built in 1887 by the landowners Albert and Bruno Henneberg - on a scale of 1:4 of a castle that the Count of Henneberg had built in Meiningen, Thuringia. The Hamburg branch of the Hennebergs wanted to commemorate their ancestors and create a monument for themselves. The mini-castle with its 43 square meter interior area is still a monument today: It has been a listed building since 1991. A Hamburg couple fell in love with the gem, bought it in 2013 and founded a non-profit foundation. The couple now organizes concerts and lectures, yoga courses and Thai massage in the castle rooms, among other things. https://www.hamburg.de/sehenswertes-poppenbuettel/

It is not possible to take photographs through the fence; the castle grounds and the park are not accessible, as a private clinic is now located there.

Remains of the medieval count castle Arnesfelde. There is nothing left of the walls. But the layout of the old castle is understandable through the castle hill and ramparts.

Unfortunately the bridge is still broken and impassable. Too bad. But the history of the castle is very interesting. If you are interested in other castle ruins: Cecilieninsel, Burg Ahrensfelde, ring wall on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal or the Ertheneburg are really interesting. With all the examples, the castle itself can only be guessed at.

Tremsbüttel Castle is located in the Stormarn district in southern Schleswig-Holstein. As the residential building of a former noble estate, it is actually a mansion, but has been called a castle for some time due to its castle-like shape. The building from the late 19th century has housed a hotel since the estate's liquidation and is therefore open to its guests, the park is freely accessible all year round.

Henneberg Castle is a 1: 4 scale replica of Henneberg Castle in southern Thuringia. The replica is on the Alster in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel in the immediate vicinity of the Poppenbüttler lock.

Pretty castle that shines for a long time with the white facade. From outside the moat there are only two places where you can see the castle well. If you want to see it from close up, take the path over the bridge.

Arnesvelde Castle was a multi-part complex on a headland in the Hagen forest on the east side of the Hopfenbach valley. It was built on the edge of the Ahrensfeld pond, which was silted up today, with the oval castle hill with the main castle laid out like an island. On the west side there was a ramp towards the Ahrensfeld pond, the exact function of which is unknown. The main castle was probably connected to the bank by a bridge. An outer moat with a moat was built on the bank side around the castle hill. The area between the outer rampart and the main castle was probably undeveloped and was probably used for military purposes. In the outer wall, which was presumably fastened with a palisade, there was a gate on the east side. Only later was a fortress or inner wall 80 meters in diameter east of the main castle and another hill north of the castle hill, on which there was probably a tower hill castle (moth). The outer bailey also had a gate on the east side and was probably fortified with a palisade. Erratic boulders may have been used only sporadically; the use of bricks in Arnesvelde Castle has been documented by surface finds, but cannot be classified due to the lack of excavations. For fortifications in the region, bricks are also only documented in the Danewerk for 1160. For (later) above-ground buildings such. B. No reliable information is possible for commercial buildings. Today the earth walls of the 6 hectare facility can still be seen. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Arnesvelde

The castle of Bargfeld-Stegen lies in the lowlands of the Old Alster, near its confluence with the Alster. As Stegen Castle, it has often found its way into written records. This tradition is due in particular to the interest of Lübeck and Hamburg in the plant. The two cities perceived the castle as a threat. The tradition is not always clear, however, because confusion with Stege Castle on the Danish island of Møn must be taken into account. Stegen is mentioned in 1302 when Count Adolf first documented it and transferred the bailiwick of the village of Spitzerdorf (now incorporated into Wedel) to the cathedral chapter of Hamburg. However, there is still no explicit mention of a castle in this context. This is different in the document from 1330, with which the Counts Johann III. von Holstein-Plön and Adolf VII. von Holstein-Pinneberg confirmed a comparison between Johann von Hummersbüttel on the one hand and the Hamburg cathedral chapter on the other. The counts refer to the noble's court in Stegen. Johann von Hummersbüttel is thus its first known and known owner. Further information: https://www.kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-290017

Hamburg's only castle and probably the smallest castle in the world. Maintained by the Henneberg Castle Foundation. Today called Alsterschlösschen, it is a cultural and event location. Unfortunately, the castle can only be entered as part of events, otherwise you can only admire the castle from beyond the fence.
