Weather shelter in the 118 hectare nature reserve Het Sweeltje between Montfort and Sint Odilie along the Vlootbeek. Varied hiking trails through the forest area. Also popular with mountain bikers - newly constructed single-track, one-way route separated from the parallel hiking trails.

This bird hide from Limburgs Landschap vzw on the edge of the De Zig nature reserve is not very large and offers a view of a limited pond, but I found it quite well located and pleasant despite its relative simplicity. The fact that a swallow has a nest in it and that some birds came to sit on the edges of the viewing openings while I was eating a sandwich may have played a role :) Even without binoculars I could see quite a lot of water birds.

It's wonderful how nature can be seen and heard here...

Unfortunately, pretty much the only way to observe the bird life in the "Natuurreservaat De Zig"... 🧐

Border hiking in a broad sense... the Abeek, Lossing and Lozerbroekbeek are your guideline in the landscape. Be surprised in the first part by the beautiful mosaic of swamps and wet marsh forests. The way back is through the nature reserve 'Het Smeetshof'. Here you walk through grazing area to get to the surrounding fields. To end the walk in beauty, you walk along the water features of De Luysen. A paradise for bird watchers and those who love peace. Many viewing walls and huts give you a special insight into the lives of our feathered friends. Bree is great in the broad sense 😘👍
