The name Mollendaal and Mollendaalbos has many variations. For example, people here also speak of the shelter at De Moemedel and Mommedel (as the forest reserve is called). The hut is also open at the back. You can see the small valley that lies there. Or call it a valley because that is where the name comes from. And quite a few springs originate. The Heverlee arboretum is part of Heverleebos. On an area of 9 hectares you will find around 300 different tree and shrub species, both exotic and native species. The mud forest hut with green roof at the entrance to the arboretum is a nice starting point for walks in the forest.
