The Rocca di Orino is an ancient fortress, located north-east of the homonymous municipality, at 540 meters above sea level. It lies on a rocky spur which guarantees excellent visibility over the whole Valcuvia. As with many similar structures in the insubric area, it is assumed that the primitive fortified nucleus dates back to the late imperial era as a point of observation and visual communication in the defense of the limes. However, no trace remains of it.

I visited this Castle years ago, on the occasion of an FAI Day and it is really worth a visit whenever possible. But even the mere external view, on a beautiful day, repays the effort of the ascent.
