If you'd like to reach the viewpoint by bike, I recommend taking the path that runs parallel to the lake. The path perpendicular to the lake is not suitable for road bikes or regular bicycles.

To admire and meditate

Here the Alimini Lakes reach the sea. The lake closest to the coast, called Alimini Grande, is of lagoon origin and is made up of brackish water. The smallest, on the other hand, called Alimini Piccolo or Fontanelle, is fed by underground springs and is therefore composed of fresh water. The two lakes are in communication through a channel called Lu Strittu. The whole lake area is of particular naturalistic importance as it offers shelter to various species of migratory birds in their movements from north to south. The flora surrounding the two basins is also unique and there are very rare plant species.

Very nice beach, good lidos

This point marks the connection between the sea and the big lake (Alimini grande), in the middle it's possible to see a fish farms and little sluices system. This big lake was generated by the erosion of the sea and extends for about 2.5 km in length with a depth of about 4 meters. The basin is surrounded by thick pine forests and the Mediterranean scrub which is home for migratory species such as the white stork, the flamingo, the crane and other water birds such as the mallard, the moorhen, the black-winged stilt, as well as some species of birds of prey. The lake connects on the southern side to the small lake (Alimini piccolo) through a narrow channel.
