It is named after the Trieste mountaineer and speleologist Mario Premuda, who died in 1931 in an accident on the Picco di Mezzodi in the Julian Alps. Beautiful lake with benches and tables nearby, ideal for catching your breath and regaining your energy before climbing Veliki Gardisce.

It's a shame it's closed, it was a meeting place, a point of reference!

Cute refuge accessible to all. Great for a dinner after the hikes. Kind staff and super potatoes in the cup! Great takeaway service too :)

The Koča na Kokoši refuge (670 m) is a former border house on Jirmanec, a promontory overlooking the town of Lipica and from which you can enjoy a fair view of the Carnic and Julian Alps. The refuge takes its name from the nearby Mount Kokoš, just a few minutes away. In the surroundings it is possible to admire two boundary stones that testify to the feudal division of the time. A popular destination for Italians and Slovenians, the refuge is open all year round on weekends.
