Sebino peat bogs

Beautiful panoramic point on the peat bogs of the lake on the relative Sanctuary of the Madonna del Corno and much of the Franciacorta territory, climbing up here by bike will make you sweat

The Sebino Torbiere Nature Reserve, declared a "wetland of international importance" according to the Ramsar Convention and a Site of Community Interest (SCI) of the Natura 2000 Network, is considered a priority area for biodiversity in the Lombardy Po Valley. This is due to the variety of habitats and species, aquatic-marshland, valuable or of community interest present in the territory, rare or at risk of extinction in Lombardy and Italy. It is an area of 360 hectares, mainly composed of reed beds and bodies of water surrounded by cultivated fields, roads and houses. It includes: the Lame (vast expanse of bodies of water profiled by banks, the result of the excavation of a peaty deposit), the Lamette (a kind of peaty lagoon to the north, on the lake), some basins to the south and west (result of excavations of clayey deposits, up to 10-15 meters deep and with a clearer appearance, in some of which fishing is still permitted), some adjacent meadows and cultivated fields.

Attention, within the Torbiere del Sebino Park only the southern path (southern limit of the park) can be cycled along, which is part of the Brescia-Paratico cycle route. Access is regulated by ticket, dispensed by automatic machines in various points of the park. One of these is located near the Monastery of San Pietro di Lamosa.

The very beautiful sanctuary is located at the top of a beautiful and challenging climb to be covered by mtb, gravel or e-bike that starts from the village of Provaglio d'Iseo. In some places the gradient reaches 20%. From the top you can enjoy an excellent view of the peat bogs, by bike you can continue to the cross of Provaglio or to the town of Iseo. On foot you can go up to the "Balota del Coren" where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Iseo.
