Arrone takes its name from its founder, a Roman nobleman who settled in this area in the 9th century AD, building a wooden castle around which a village slowly grew. The current appearance is the medieval one still dominated by the castle, now in masonry, which stands at the top of the hill. Arrone is included in the list of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy" and is located within the Nera river park. The municipal area is suitable for various sporting activities such as cycling, hiking, rafting and rock climbing. Don't miss the local specialty: river prawn broth and trout fillet.

The Rocca Albornoz was built at the behest of the Spanish cardinal Egidio Albornoz, starting from 1360: it was the seat of papal legates and popes. In 1499, Lucrezia Borgia also lived there for a short period, as governor. In the last century it was also a penitentiary. It currently houses the National Museum of the Grand Duchy of Spoleto

There is easy direct access / partly with lift, (but unfortunately only partially barrier-free) from the north - west from Via Gattaponi. The way across the street - "to the right" is much longer. But you do get past the viewpoint to the southeast of the wall down onto the viaduct.

In the Spoleto area, in addition to the former railway, I also liked some paths of Monteluco even if honestly around Foligno in my opinion there is better 😉
