Galiga Lake is one of the largest lakes in the area, almost all of which are artificial. They were created over half a century ago as a water reserve for agriculture, with excavations and embankments in areas where slight natural basins facilitated their construction. Many of these lakes are barely visible, even when the road passes by, hidden by hedges on the embankments or, as at Galiga, by thick brambles. Some (like Vetrice) have changed their intended use to various recreational areas, while others, like Galiga, have instead become wild.

Suggestive with snow.

The lake was conceived for sport fishing and duck hunting on the Galiga estate. It integrates nicely into the landscape and is worth a stop.

Cool place in summer ...

In this dry summer, the waterfall has dried up and only the pool has some water left - with crabs in it.

The point is located about halfway towards Poggio Ripaghera - Sentieri delle Burraie. From the vantage point it ranges from Pratomagno, to Florence and to the profile of the mountains of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. Challenging but feasible climb. Exciting.

Very nice stretch with a short but hard climb of only 900m. After the road it continues along the lake of Castel Ruggero and ending in Grassina.
