The path along the Franscinone River runs along a gorge with many bridges and water pipes. The river contains rocks made of gray Ceneri gneiss that are over 500 million years old. These boulders were deposited by glaciers. There are also stones made of light dolomite limestone that have slipped from the Denti della Vecchia. There used to be a canal here that carried water to the mills further downstream. There were also various ponds that were used to macerate Hnaf, from which fibers were obtained.

Also known as Caverna Generosa, it was discovered in 1988 by two speleologists of the Ticino Section who, traveling through the area in the summer, identified its opening. Given the small size of this opening, it had to be enlarged in any case to allow passage.

Very suggestive stretch of path, arriving from the Forcola or from the eastern peak of the Pizzoni di Valsolda. You go around the overhanging wall of the West peak to the north thanks to the wide ledges where the rock often forms roofs. You pass a first gully thanks also to a fixed rope and finally climb a steep stony gully passing again under some rocky roofs to come out at the ridge saddle which is a prelude to the last stretch of climb before the summit.

Inside the cave, which is located on the eastern side of Monte Generoso, the "Orso Cave", the University of Milan has brought to light finds of over 500 cave bears (Ursus spelaeus) lived and extinct on the Monte Generoso between over 30,000 and 50,000 years ago. During the excavations in the Caverna (Grotta dell'Orso), some findings emerged that can be attributed to the Neanderthal Man, who lived in the historical period between 40,000 and 60,000 years ago. There are four finds: the first two were discovered in 1998, and the rest in 2002, discovered in the "Sala Terminale". The visits, individual or in group, are always carried out with an expert guide. The cave of the bear can be visited!
