The path to the lake is really beautiful and challenging, you need skill and ability to tackle it on a mountain bike.

Lago di Porziola, or “Lago di San Lorenzo”, is the only free quarry in the Bologna area. The surface of the lake is 15 hectares.

I don't know why it's called that since there are no beavers in the area. The lake is for sport fishing, but it is also an idyllic place for walking or bird watching. There is a bar-restaurant next door. In the summer there are music evenings, and the restaurant is very busy at the weekend.

Castel dell'Alpi lake is the only natural basin in the province of Bologna. It was formed in 1951 following a landslide which blocked the course of the Savena stream, partially destroying the village of Castel dell'Alpi, now rebuilt on the right bank of the lake.

It is an ideal location for walking, bird watching and sport fishing. There is also a bar and restaurant to take a break from cycling.

In the hamlet of the same name of San Benedetto Val di Sambro, the small lake of Castel dell'Alpi has the Savena torrent as both its tributary and emissary. Unlike the nearby lakes of Suviana, Brasimone and Santa Maria, this one was formed naturally.

This small pool of water in the locality of Cà di Falchetti is exploited by various fishermen in the summer season.
