Beautiful waterfalls found on the Via Francigena between Sutri and Campagnano di Roma... it's a shame that their waters are particularly polluted.

It consists of a series of small waterfalls along the Treja River. Some of these falls are natural, while others have been shaped by human intervention. The constant flow of water over layers of volcanic rock has sculpted these picturesque waterfalls for millennia

"Cascata dei Cavaterra is located very close to the village of Nepi and a few hundred meters from the other waterfall, that of the Picchio. The waterfall is located between the Roman-style aqueduct built in 1727 and the previously mentioned waterfall. Its name derives from the reconstruction and fortification works of the village walls, vaulted by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger".

Cycling up here can be tiring, especially in the summer so this is a perfect place to take a break and cool off in the icy water of the stream. Nearby there are also some refreshment points and trattorias.

At this point the path runs alongside the Fosso Mazzano which creates lush waterfalls surrounded by nature.
