From Via Stazione, there are interesting views up to the old town perched on the mountain, with its mighty castle. To the right (northeast), the path leads to the Celano Gorge, either over the mountain with its magnificent views (see corresponding HL) or around it.

The Piccolomini castle initially stood on the island of Ortucchio near Lake Fucino. The structure, in fact, was surrounded by a moat whose waters were connected to the lake. Gagliano Aterno (AQ) is an enchanting village immersed in the greenery of the Sirente-Velino Regional Park. As soon as you leave the town in the direction of Ovindoli you can admire this view of the town of Celano and the underlying Piana del Fucino. Do not miss the Piccolomini Castle, where the museum of sacred art is set up inside.
