The Torre de los Alumbres is a historic tower located in the province of Almería, Spain. It was built in the 16th century to protect the area from pirate attacks. The tower is a significant example of the defensive architecture of that time and is part of the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The fort had 4 cannons and was strategically well located near several beaches that are very beautiful by the way. The fort was restored in the 90s but is now inaccessible and somewhat dilapidated. Still, it is worth a visit if only for its location.

The Castle of San Felipe was built on the limestone cliffs around 1770 during the reign of Charles III. It was restored in 1991 and has free access to the outside and is in good condition. It is owned by the Junta de Andalucia.

Also known as the Castle of the Hermitage or Castle of Rodalquilar, the tower was built in 1509 by order of Francisco de Vargas to defend the alum mine of Rodalquilar against numerous attacks by Barbary pirates. Next to it was built another tower made of rammed earth, which disappeared in the 18th century. It was abandoned in 1555 and converted into the Cabo de Gata prison around 1590, in addition to continuing to support the surveillance of the coast against raids by North Africans and Turks. In 1755, repair works were carried out as the tower was in a state of disrepair. In 1768, due to its distance from the coast (1 kilometer) and the construction of the San Ramón Castle, it was abandoned again. In the mid-19th century, it served as accommodation for the watchmen stationed in the neighboring Cerro del Lobo tower. Later, due to neglect and lack of conservation, it remains in the ruined state we know today.

Los Escullos is a village belonging to the municipality of Níjar, in the province of Almería, Spain, and located within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park. Next to this village there are landscapes such as the Arco beach and the Embarcadero cove. In 2008 it had 62 inhabitants. Scenes from the films: The Daltons, Never Say Never Again and El Coyote were filmed here.
