From the parking lot at the Riesach Waterfall, continue up and up the mountain via the Preintaler Hut. It's fantastic in the Klafferkessel. We were here in early to mid-June. We still crossed many snowfields; some lakes were open, some still completely covered in ice. Indescribably beautiful. 🫠

The Schladminger Tauern Höhenweg between Gollinghütte and Preintaler Hütte leads through the Klafferkesseln nature reserve. They are a relic of the last Ice Age. From the Greifenberg, I was particularly fascinated by the beautiful turquoise, ice-blue lake below the summit. It took me longer until I finally found him because of the differences in altitude so that I could be very close to him.

At the upper Sonntagkarsee you can sit comfortably on a stone and enjoy the peace and the view. Definitely worth it

From the path between the Preintalerhütte and the Hochwildstelle you can enjoy a view of the small, dark blue shimmering Trattensee. The Karsee lies at an altitude of 2,265 meters. Beware, the water is ice cold!
