The Allan Memorial Grove in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is home to one of the last naturally growing stands of Monterey cypress—trees that once blanketed much of the Central Coast. The Cypress Grove Trail is a short, scenic loop (about 0.8 miles) that winds through this grove along dramatic coastal bluffs. You'll get sweeping ocean views, rugged cliffs, and a chance to spot seabirds, sea lions, or even whales offshore. It’s an easy, must-do trail for first-time visitors.

This place is known for the steep uphills. Here there is a magic spot where you can enjoy the beautiful views over the mountains and the lake.

This beautiful 40,662-acre reservoir provides drinking water for San Luis Obispo, Cayucos and the surrounding area. It is encompassed by grassy rolling hills and oak and sycamore trees, with herds of cattle grazing peacefully in the background. The lake is open to the public only during the trout fishing season (last Saturday in April to November 15th). The trail alongside the lake is primarily used as fishing access but is also a beautiful area for hiking, cycling, picnicking, and bird watching.

Part of Point Lobos, Sand Hill Cove features a stunning natural cove, with outstanding Pacific Ocean views and colorful rocks.

Arroyo Seco is the perfect place to spend a vacation in the wilderness: you can take beautiful walks or swim in lakes and rivers. There is something for everyone!

Nice and easy tour. Stunning scenery and a chance to see some beautiful wildlife. Parking either directly in the park (paid) or on the adjacent streets (free). Absolutely worth a stop.

A beautiful small state reserve just off Highway 1 is Point Lobos, just a few miles south of Monterey and Carmel in the north of the Big Sur area. Particularly impressive is Point Lobos due to its enormous variety: here the steep coastline with its rugged cliffs, there the dense forests with numerous rare plant species and the strangest rock structures on the water. And animal lovers will also get their money's worth thanks to the abundance of sea lions and rodents.
