The Kotychi Lagoon (Greek: Λιμνοθάλασσα Κοτύχι) is the largest lagoon system in the Peloponnese. It is a central component of the Kotychi-Strofylia Wetlands National Park. The lagoon covers approximately 750 hectares and is separated from the Ionian Sea by a roughly 5 km long sandbar. Its average depth is only between 0.4 and 1.0 meters. As a typical Mediterranean lagoon, it is an important area for the wintering, breeding, and migration of waterfowl, including rare species such as the ferruginous duck. The lagoon serves as a natural fishery (vivarium) where traditional fishing methods are practiced.

The experience of swimming with turtles is great. But the smell haunts you even longer ;-)

At this point there is an entrance to the constantly flowing sulfur spring.

The hot water of these thermal baths and springs flows through the cave of the "Nymphs of Anigrides. According to mythology, the Dardanos, the ancestors of the Trojans, were born here.

Fantastic gravel on the lagoon, lots of peace and nature

The road east of the lake is a wonderful ride it is quite well paved and has great views all the way to Zacharo

The tour around Kaiafas laguna is a pretty fine and easy path. I recommended also as free place for wild camping under the stars in advanced spring season, early summer and fall (or even in winter for intrepid people)
