The 3 Weiler ponds ("Weiler Weier"), located below the small hamlet of Weiler, were developed in the early 1960s as recreational ponds. They are now an important feeding ground for birds. Several rare species of birds nest, feed or winter there. During the migration period, many ducks and waders spend a few days in the ponds before flying off to winter quarters or breeding sites.
