The Großlabenzer See is located in the district of Parchim and in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg northeast of Schwerin. Larger communities in the area are Warin and Brüel. The neighboring communities are Blankenberg, district of Friedrichswalde, and the town of Warin, district of Großlabenz. The lake is divided into a northern basin, the Schwarzer See, and the much shallower southern basin, the Weißer See. The deepest part of the lake is in the northern basin. The average depth is 10.2 meters. The lake is almost completely surrounded by forest and is therefore a popular tourist destination.

It's also wonderful on a hot day, as you're walking through a wooded area. A detour to the Seehotel in Nakenstorf is well worth it - whether you need a refreshment on the terrace or just want to enjoy the view from the jetty over the lake. If it's rained a lot, the paths could be very soft in some places - even after a long dry period, these places still exist. If you still have the energy, you should take the peninsula at the end of the path.

You automatically cross the wooden bridge when you go around the lake. It is embedded in the jungle-like forest. Very well done!

The great pond is the Mühlenbach. It is a regulated stream that meanders through the city center and is divided into different sections. In the Lindengarten you can stroll along the Mühlenbach and enjoy the idyllic nature. The Mühlenbach begins as an outflow of the Mühlenteich, which is fed by the Wallensteingraben. It leaves the pond on the western bank, passes under the Wismar-Bad Kleinen railway line and flows from there in a northerly direction. In the Lindengarten, south of the train station, the Mühlenbach is dammed. After passing under Bahnhofstrasse, the watercourse is called the Mühlengrube. The Mühlenbach played an important role historically: it was regulated as early as the 13th century to operate mills and to make it navigable. Barges transported goods such as grain, salt and herring. The stream was also used for washing clothes and supplying water.
