The castle is currently hidden behind scaffolding. There are also signs indicating that when you enter the castle grounds you are on private land.

Nothing of the complex can be seen anymore. But you can easily imagine a castle standing on this hill. Great view from above, hidden in the forest.

Manor house (manor house, castle) Johannstorf In 1743, the two-storey brick building was built on the site of a former moated castle according to plans by master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin. The client for the construction was the von Buchwald(t) family, whose ancestral seat had been Johannstorf since 1412. The eye-catcher is the central projection on the southwest side of the manor house with colossal pilasters, the portal crowning and the triangular gable decorated with a coat of arms. Inside, the spacious hall impresses with a double staircase that leads to the upper floor. In the garden room, wooden wall panels that reach up to the ceiling have been preserved; stucco ceilings, fireplaces and stoves, mirrors and textile wall coverings are also still there. In 1782, the Eckermann family acquired the estate and remained the owners until it was expropriated in 1945. After 1945, the manor house was mainly inhabited. The listed building has been privately owned since 1993, and the urgently needed renovation was a long time coming. Through a legal settlement between the town of Dassow and the owner, the town of Dassow has managed to at least partially start the renovation of the manor house. The outbuildings are continuing to deteriorate, as is the manor house. The moat has also unfortunately deteriorated. https://gutshaeuser.de/de/guts_herrenhaeuser/gutshaeuser_j/gutshaus_herrenhaus_schloss_johannstorf

The historic, listed Wedendorf Castle, located in the Nordwest - Mecklenburg district between the cities of Lübeck, Wismar and Schwerin, is a stately five-story building that can accommodate 71 people. Located directly on Lake Wedendorf with a view of the 800-year-old church of Kirch Grambow, the area around the four-star hotel offers opportunities for a variety of sports such as horse riding, hiking, cycling, fishing and hunting, but culture and nature lovers also come into their own Cost. In 2005, Wedendorf Castle was classified as a museum and extremely interesting to the public by the monument protection authority of the Northwest Mecklenburg district. Honorable mention went to the extensive renovation of the castle and the history of the von Bülow and von Bernstorff families, based on photos and drawings, which provide an insight into the social development of the region over the course of over 400 years. https://www.rehna.de/portal/seiten/hotel-und-museum-schloss-wedendorf-900000112-28460.html

The remains of the Slavic castle complex Roxin are located 800 meters southeast of the Roxin district of the Stepenitztal municipality. The triangular, single-part complex was built on a natural mountain spur. The former refuge is now located in the forest, which can be accessed on foot. Cyclists can lock their bikes behind the barrier at the information sign or at a tree.

The estate was originally owned by the Buchwald family, who had been inherited there since the 16th century. Since the marriage of the heir maid Margarete von Buchwald with Claus Schack, the owners have been named Schack von Buchwald. The Gottorf conference councilor and Lübeck canon Schack von Buchwald (1705–1770) left the present-day castle in 1743 as the successor to a medieval moated castle for himself and his wife Eleonore Elisabeth, née. von Plessen, erect. In 1782 the property went to the Eckermann family, who had lived here for several generations until 1945. After the expropriation of the landowners in the post-war period and under the government of the GDR, the castle served as a residential building for private purposes. In the meantime, "a brush is being picked up". Up close, at least the mansion doesn't look so pitiful anymore, from a distance it looks really good.

8月 26, 2019, Schloss Lütgenhof

Lütgenhof Castle near Dassow is located directly on the Stepenitz, which flows a few hundred meters further into the Dassower See. The stately property in the style of historic classicism was built in 1838 by Noble von Paepcke as a plastered, nine-axle mansion with an outstanding center wing and roof terrace. End of the 19th century was added to a north wing, later a south wing. Until the 20th century, the estate was farmed. After 1945, the castle served as a children's home, agricultural college and barracks for the border troops of the GDR. Since 1999, the property has been converted into a hotel, which today serves only pure event business. From the actual estate is not much preserved. Around the castle is a landscaped English-style landscaped. https://www.mvp.de/schloss-luetgenhof/

The manor house, as well as the entire Gutsanlage, have already seen much better times (read: they are in need of much renovation), but the former plants can still be guessed. As there is no possibility to drive closer to Lake Dassow, you can take the facility with you. Then make an appetite for Bothmer Castle, which has probably modeled here.

This mansion of the same name was built in 1743. Once stood here a moated castle, which was broken off for the establishment of the mansion. The house is currently being renovated, but the outbuildings are in very poor condition. Further information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Johannstorf

The mansion was built from 1743 according to plans by Rudolph Matthias Dallin, it was his last major work before his death. The castle has been privately owned since 1992 and was sold on condition that it be renovated. The owner initially did not comply with this argument, arguing that the outbuildings do not belong to him. The community of Dassow wanted to force a court that the castle is returned. The outbuildings now also belong to the current owner. In a 2013 comparison, the owner committed himself to renovating the castle in 5 years to make it a listed building. You can see from the photos that something was done on the castle, but how far the renovation of the outbuildings will go is still completely unclear. The community has no influence on them.
