The Peene Valley was formed at the end of the last ice age and was located on the northwestern edge of the late glacial Haff reservoir. The Anklamer Stadtbruch nature reserve is a 1461 hectare nature reserve near Anklam in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.[1] It was declared a protected area on April 27, 1934 with the aim of protecting and developing the Anklam peat bog.
