During the redesign, the lake was divided into different areas. A small part was redesigned as a natural swimming pool.

When the future of the Großkühnauer Badeanstalten is being discussed in the large council chamber, it is certainly helpful for the elected city councilors to make a decision once again about the historical significance of this outdoor pool located in the north-west of Dessau. With the beginning of the bathing season in 1930, the city of Dessau opened a new lido in the oldest part of the city, Großkühnau, which had been incorporated since 1923 and was first mentioned in a document on May 1, 945. Picturesquely located on the shore of Lake Kühnauer See, the view of the village, castle and church opens up, which widens in visual relation to the western part of the historic Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm.
