Anyone approaching Lake Hohennauen on two wheels will be rewarded halfway – with a bridge that is more than just a crossing. The view from here is far-reaching: Lake Ferchesar shimmers to the left, Lake Hohennauen stretches out to the right, and in the middle, Lake Semliner stretches long and blue through the landscape. The bridge itself is comfortable: structurally separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians – that's almost a luxury in Brandenburg. Below, water lilies lap against old pilings, above, boats glide by like mobile viewing platforms. If you pause here for a moment, you'll see what defines the region: expanse, water, wind – and a soothing silence that doesn't have to be loud to make an impression.

The bivouac and rest area in Grütz is located directly on the Havelland and Havel cycle path. It can be used by water hikers and cyclists to camp for one night. There is a barbecue and fire pit (including wood supply), covered table and seating areas and WiFi access. 👍

At the Bahnitz bivouac site, water hikers and cyclists are allowed to spend the night in a tent. The overnight stay costs five euros per tent. However, a maximum of four tents are permitted. It is therefore advisable to register in advance with harbor master Lothar Schulz on: +49 172 3074864. The bivouac site has a toilet and shower as well as a fireplace, for which you can also purchase wood from the harbor master.

The elongated lake includes the Ferchesarer See in the east and the Hohennauener See in the west. The middle section is also known as Semlin Lake. The lake is 8.83 kilometers long and between 300 and 900 meters wide, the canal is 1.57 kilometers long.
