A climb on this stage of the Moselsteig from Beilstein to Cochem that is not exactly easy, at least for occasional hikers and walkers, but not too steep, but extremely worthwhile! The term "wildly romantic" - which may seem a bit kitschy - probably describes it best.

Very nice hiking trails, but after a rain shower the trails can be a bit slippery, so always wear sturdy shoes. The beautiful old mustard mill is now a nice hotel restaurant, good for a little rest.

The Kapainer-Bach-Tal leads through a wildly romantic notched valley from the Moselle near Bruttig-Fankel to the Hunsrück hills near Valwigerberg. Almost 200 meters in altitude are overcome. The lower part (120hm) is quite steep and probably slippery when wet. Halfway there is a step secured by firmer rock layers with a rest bench in wonderful seclusion. The further way up is then less steep.

They lead you from the hiking car park on the Moselle (B49) after 700 meters to a waterfall that offers a welcome cooling off in summer and grows into an impressive wall of ice in winter. Serpentines take you to the mountain plateau in the "Klottener Neuwald" and to the "Annischerhof". From there you are led past orchards to the "Kasteschkopp" lookout point where a panoramic view of the Moselle valley and the vineyard terraces awaits you. From the "Kasteschkopp" serpentines lead you back to the valley floor and then to the starting point at the hiking car park. What a wonderful route through this wild and romantic valley! Like in fairy tales! However, nothing for people with fear of heights, as I had to discover with my companion after the waterfall ... somehow we made it up. I thought it was great here, he probably not ;-)
