If you want to climb the slope from the Moselle up to the Maifeld in a particularly scenic way and as much as possible, the Shrink Valley is recommended! For cyclists, this also represents the connection between the Moselle cycle path in Hatzenport and the Maifeld cycle path in Münstermaifeld.

The 4.5-kilometer trail follows the Schrumpfbach stream, which flows from Münstermaifeld-Metternich through a valley rich in forests and meadows down to the Moselle. Fifteen mills are on the wayside - some in a deep sleep, others are successful examples of how ancient walls can be beautifully renovated, for example to accommodate comfortable holiday apartments.

Llamas have found a home in the wild nature of the shrink valley as well as eagle owls and salamanders. From the shrink valley you can also reach the small artist village Mörz with its beautifully renovated courtyards and the Café Toscana via a paved forest path. Every two years, instead of the forest silence, a happy Maifeld-Moselle adventure day attracts to the mill event “Schromb is fun”.

When planning the tour, some points with inclines of over 10% were shown, but the path really only climbs very moderately and is very easy to drive due to the super road surface. The many trees provide shade on the ascent.

Nice route on the best asphalt. Past the many mills in the Shrink Valley. A long journey is also worthwhile. Wonderfully shady and cool in the heat.
