What a wonderful place to unwind

The village of Thranenweiher am Traunbach is only a few kilometers below the source of the Traunbach. Some historians assume that parts of the Nibelungen saga could have taken place there. Hagen von Tronje (or historically more precisely "von Tronege") may have descended from Dhronecken near Thalfang. The name of the place Thranenweiher possibly comes from the fact that Hagen von Tronje killed the hero Siegfried there while drinking while hunting at a spring. Because Kriemhild shed her tears there, the place was called "the pond of tears".
