There is only such a quaint rest area in the Palatinate Forest: with a shelter hut belonging to the Palatinate Forest Association (from 1913), several seating groups (with tables) and two old oaks; the third oak in the bunch apparently had to be felled. Several new oaks were planted for this. And everything is neatly fenced with wooden stakes.

The Rahnenhof is named after its last owner among the Leiningen counts, namely Johann Jacob Rahn (1744 – 1816). After his death, the (previously named) "Ludwigshoff" was given the name "Rahnenhof". The best I've ever eaten in a Palatinate hut. Quality and ambience more like restaurant level. Very friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

The Ungeheuersee in the Leininger Sporn, part of the northeastern Palatinate Forest, is a shallow pond that is fed by the Krumbach. The lake has been protected as a natural monument since the 1930s. It has been listed in the official register since 1971 with the list number ND-7332-195. Great destination between Leistadt and Höningen. Small indoor area, large outdoor area with a small schnapps hut .... which invites you to hut evenings in winter, the campfire and the offered grill specialties round off the whole thing. There is a large parking lot on site, usually overcrowded on a good day, so there is usually wild parking. Many well-marked hiking trails around, the Bismarck Tower and TV Tower are the closest. The Monster Lake for people with more fitness.

Hikers' parking lot at the 3 oaks is the starting point for many great hikes Hausen, Hardenburg, Wachenheim, Seebach are nearby places. The Poppental leads to Wachenheim, the Eppental towards Hausen and Hardenburg. If you walk towards Hammelstalbrunnen, sooner or later you will end up at Lambertskreuz .... one of the largest PWV huts in the area.
