The Idarkopf offers excellent panoramic views over the surrounding Hunsrück heights. The new Idarkopf tower, a hybrid construction made of wood and hot-dip galvanized steel, was opened in December 2022 after the previous wooden tower, which was damaged by fire in 2018, was demolished in February 2022.

Here you have a beautiful view of the striking mountain, which at 746 meters is one of the highest peaks in the region.

The observation tower on the Idarkopf mountain in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, located in the EdelSteinLand region, offers breathtaking panoramic views from its height of over 30 meters. A path leads over the Teufelskopf along the ridge, the rocky side of which drops steeply to the Simmerbach.

The new observation tower is a real eye-catcher. The platform is modeled on a bird's nest. 170 steps lead up. Those who are not afraid of heights will be rewarded with a great 360° panorama.

December 2022 After the old one burned down and had to be demolished, the Idarkopf (746 meters) now has a new observation tower. A steel staircase with 170 steps and 9 resting platforms leads to the viewing platform of the 31.1-meter-high tower. From this new highlight in the EdelSteinLand region, visitors can expect breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

The new Idarkopfturm was opened today

The wooden tower on the 745 meter high Idarkopf is history. Its demolition was completed in March 2022. The 28 meter high attraction had become dilapidated after a fire in October 2018. A new tower is planned. The foundations can still be seen.
