The Katzenloch waterfall is fed by the Idarbach and Steinbach streams. The water is also dammed at the Idarbach. However, the sawmill that uses the water is no longer powered by hydropower, so the weir gate is wide open and the waterfall is usually well supplied.

The waterfall in Katzenloch is fed by the Idarbach and Steinbach streams. The water is also dammed at the Idarbach. However, the sawmill that was powered by the water is no longer supplied with hydropower, so the weir gate is wide open and the waterfall is usually well supplied. The Stumm brothers established a hammer mill here in 1758, which still exists today, including a small pond.
