The barbecue hut with the pretty rest area is in good condition. The view from here is inviting. Although you can climb the observation tower, the view from there is not worth it at all

Source: City of Bingen The traditional Waldgaststätte Heiligkreuz is a central excursion destination in an idyllic location in the middle of the local recreation area of the Bingen Forest, not far from the city of Bingen. Nearby are award-winning hiking trails and beautiful viewpoints over the Rhine Valley. An adventure trail with a suspension bridge, Villa Rustica and a botanical garden complete the range of leisure activities around the property. The forester's lodge is on the Bingerbrück road to the Bodmannstein. The house takes its name from what used to be a hermitage (hermitage), which consisted of a chapel and the hermit's apartment (who was also in charge of the area). The hermitage was finally dissolved in 1791, a new forest warden had to be appointed to live there. A new forester's house was built in 1865. In 2017 it was completely renovated and the forest restaurant started operating again after a period of closure.
