Bayreuth's most magnificent fountain is undoubtedly the Margrave Fountain in front of the New Palace, featuring the equestrian statue of Margrave Christian Ernst. It was created between 1699 and 1705 by Bayreuth's court sculptor Elias Räntz. The Margrave, who had clearly stipulated that "nothing at all should be undertaken without the prior knowledge of the Prince," provided the materials and tools to ensure that this masterpiece, made of fine-grained sculptural sandstone (from Hartmannsreuth and Lessau), would become a success to his credit. The fountain was inaugurated on July 27, 1700—on the occasion of His Most Serene Highness's 56th birthday—and initially stood in the inner courtyard of the Old Residence. It was completed (according to the chronogram in the inscription on the base) in 1705.

There was certainly a beautiful fountain in front of the castle, but it was enclosed over the winter so that it could not be seen. This applies to almost all statues and fountains in Bayreuth.

The Hopfengarten is located in the Wilhelminenaue, embedded in the grounds of the former 2016 State Garden Show, which has been freely accessible since April 2017. In addition to great viewing points and event areas, the park offers a wide range of leisure activities such as beach volleyball, a dirt bike facility, a hedge theater and a lake stage, as well as relaxed areas for barbecues and picnics.

Free playground and zoo. Very nice lake. Quiet. Worth a trip. Unfortunately the kiosk was not open

From the hill at the Hopfengarten in the 2016 State Garden Show area, you have a beautiful view of the renaturalized course of the Red Main through the Wilhelminenaue.

The bathing lake is always a good starting point for cyclists. During the bathing season, however, the bikes have to stay outside and there is an entrance fee.......there is always a large selection of 😋delicious cakes
