The hut takes its name from the 7 paths that intersect - viewed from above like a star. Forester Vopelieuns built the hut at the crossroads at the beginning of the 19th century.

Chapel Gundelfingen by Hans Engel of the Siegfried and Elfriede Denzel Foundation: The path chapel on the cycle path from Offingen to Gundelfingen is located in the flat Danube valley, which has been cultivated since the 19th century and has a wide range of uses from agriculture, gravel mining to leisure activities. The chapel has a cross-shaped floor plan, which forms an open space and is differentiated into a religious center and two seating niches. Twelve turned round columns made of glued larch wood support a flat wooden roof. The entire wooden construction looks like a small Roman temple, which is in turn alienated by three large glass walls. These are graphically designed with leaf motifs and sentences from religion and philosophy about nature. Four corners are formed as “green” walls made of copper beech trees. In the towering chapel hangs a round pane of colored glass with a cross inscribed on it. The connection between outside and inside, nature and architecture can be experienced intensively. Tables with seating invite you to rest, relax, look, think and reflect.

A remarkable, unusual architectural style for a chapel.

This hut is ideal for resting and you can even see a halved tree trunk with a very large black woodpecker cave, leaning against the wall of the hut.

The Sternhütte is located at a striking crossroads. Seven paths meet here in a star shape. The hut offers covered seating, a fountain and a pond can also be found here. The hut takes its name from the Vopelius star, which sits enthroned on a high trunk at the crossroads. Around 1820 this star was erected at this intersection by forester Vopelius.
