Tegernsee Monastery was a Benedictine abbey founded in the 8th century on Lake Tegernsee in what is now the town of Tegernsee in Bavaria. It was the most important Benedictine abbey in Upper Bavaria until 1803. Today, the monastery buildings are Tegernsee Castle and are owned by the Wittelsbach branch of the Dukes of Bavaria.
