What appears to be an unusual residential building is actually the Schloss Egmating Golf Club. Opposite is the Catholic parish office of St. John the Baptist and St. Michael.

In 1516 the imperial dominion of Waldeck, with Miesbach as its central town, passed to the Maxlrain family. In 1584 the Bavarian Duke Wilhelm V ended the Reformation, which had been promoted by Wolf Dietrich von Maxlrain since around 1560, with a trade embargo. The castle at Münchner Straße 1 was rebuilt in 1611 by Wilhelm von Maxlrain, north of the oldest castle square in Miesbach, originally with four corner towers. In January 1637, Emperor Ferdinand II elevated Waldeck to the county of Hohenwaldeck. After the Maxlrain family died out, Hohenwaldeck came into the possession of the Wittelsbachs in 1734, who integrated it as a separate part of the Electorate of Bavaria and used the castle as an electoral palace for their caretakers. The four towers were demolished around 1745. The chapel was added in 1783. The building was converted into an office building in the 19th century and structurally simplified. From 1804 to 1913, the castle was the seat of the regional court and district office. Today it is used as the office building of the surveying office. Egmating was first mentioned in the 11th century. Since 1449, the castle and its predecessor buildings were owned by the Schrencks, a Munich council family. In later centuries, it was owned by the Barons Schrenck von Notzing and Egmating, the Barons von Horn, the Count Arco of Zinneberg and the Barons von Büsing-Orville.[1] The former Hofmark castle was later used as a brewery. In the night of August 20-21, 1911, the farm buildings of the Egmating castle brewery owned by Adolf Baron von Büsing-Orville burned down. In order to secure and increase sales of the brewery, which had been rebuilt at great expense, he bought up surrounding inns such as Berganger, Schönau, Moosach (old innkeeper), Wildenholzen (cellar innkeeper), Bruck, Glonn (post innkeeper) and Schießstätte. However, the brewery was sold to the Paulaner-Thomas brewery in Munich in 1927. The current main building dates from the 17th century, while the brewery and commercial buildings date from the first half of the 19th century. The castle now houses condominiums, the clubhouse of the Schloss Egmating golf course and a castle restaurant. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Egmating

WOW! An old castle as a country school home for the city of Munich. PS: I used to go to a youth hostel with school. That was 1961-DM times 😎
