Saw the path directly along the pond too late

The Hauserbachsee, created in 1970 by building a dam, is a reservoir near Miehlen that is about 500 meters long and over 8 meters deep. Surrounded by lovingly landscaped paths, meadows and seating areas, it offers visitors opportunities for relaxation, while swimming and sailing on the lake are prohibited to protect the ecological balance.

You can buy day tickets for fishing at the Kern pond complex in Oberelbert. The fish you can catch include pike, salmon trout, carp and zander.

The lake is 500m long and over 8m deep at the overflow. The total surface area of the lake is 32,000 square meters. The lake provides a habitat for a variety of fish - up to 5,000 animals. The lake is operated and maintained as a fishing lake by the Miehlen fishing club.

The old slider house is a technical monument on the shore of Lake Hertha. The lake was built in 1846 to supply water to the Holzappel pit near Dörnberg-Hütte. Today there is a small park and a swimming pool on the shore.

At the end of the valley you reach the Bember mill. If you want to continue from there in the direction of Höhr or Hillscheid, it gets much steeper and exhausting 💪

The path in the valley is often very busy. At the lower entrance to the valley, after a few meters, turn left up to the Rheinhöhenweg, which you can use as an alternative. This path can be reached by bike via the entrance from Hillscheider Straße in Vallendar, shortly after the turnoff to Schoenstatt.
