The Lochbach Gorge has several visible rock walls made of red sandstone, exposed by the continuous erosion of the Lochbach. The stream, which flows partly in a cascade-like manner and partly in meanders and carries a high load of rubble, overcomes a height difference of around 100 m before finally flowing into the Efze. Due to the accumulation of minerals, the rock in the stream bed has a dark blue colour in places.
