In 1877, the Ettlingen Beautification Association built a pavilion called "Friedrichshöhe" in honor of the Grand Duke of Baden, Friedrich. During the period of firewood shortage after World War II, the dilapidated hut was gradually torn down and burned at home. At the beginning of the 1970s, the forestry administration built another shelter on the same spot.

Lake Erlach is currently the last refuge for amphibians in the Oberwald. The previously declining amphibian population was counteracted by the targeted design of the water body. Here they find a habitat that the floodplain landscape of the Rhine had offered them since time immemorial, before human cultivation destroyed it.

From here, you can easily observe birds without disturbing them. Beautiful view over the lake.

Here at the Naturfreundehaus there is not only a place to stop for refreshments on Sundays, but also a very nice children's playground.

A wetland biotope created by humans - individual sections were designed to meet the needs of different animal species 👍👏 Beautiful view of the lake and many birds from the observation point (a protected shelter with viewing slits). Circuit around the lake approx. 2 km.
