The history of Bockfließ Castle goes back to 1168. "Breastwork of the Marchfeld", "place of refuge for the residents", a "real fortress" are descriptions of the castle in medieval documents. In the 15th century, the castle was known as a moated castle, and in the 18th century it was converted into a castle-like fortress. The notches of Turkish sabres can be seen on the old inner gate. The interior rooms were plundered in 1809 and 1945. Today the castle is owned by Countess Maya Goess, née Abensperg-Traun, and serves as a private residence. The castle is simply beautiful

The complex, which in its basic form dates back to the 13th century, now houses exhibition areas, a music school, a studio and a restaurant following a partial renovation between 2011 and 2013.

The impressive Kreuzenstein Castle is enthroned on a 260m high elevation above the Danube and can be seen from afar. It is a jewel for all fans of the Middle Ages, castle lovers and romantics who want to be transported back in time with the help of a fully furnished castle. The visit is only possible as part of a guided tour. Guided tours take place on the hour and last between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the group. Special children's tours are carried out for school classes by prior arrangement.

Unfortunately, the imposing complex looks pretty desolate, although it seems to be inhabited. It can only be viewed from the outside as it is privately owned. The construction of the castle is documented as 1140. In the eventful history of the castle, the possession in the bloom reached over Hetzmannsdorf to Seebarn. In the 17th century, Count Julius Friedrich Buccelini came as a new owner. In his time, the complex was expanded in the Baroque style. Since 1955, the castle, which is connected to a larger farm, has been owned by the Koller family.

Castle with a moat and a nice little park

A really impressive castle when you stand in front of it. I'll definitely take a tour there, as long as the mask comes off ;) At 2:20 p.m. the castle was shining in the sunshine. Beautiful!

Nice castle, but Don Quixote and Sancho Panza had more attention here :)
