A gravel road leads to the Artisan market. Right next are metalworkers workshops showing the ancient primitive but effective techniques of extracting ore and manufacturing metal tools and objects. Today here mostly for souvenirs and ornaments. A few steps south leaf to the steep edge of the gorge. A trail to descend down is further to the west.

About a kilometers south of the obsidian caves the otherwise excellent gravel trail is completely eroded and impassable except on foot. You can push and lift the bike over the steep gullies and continue on the other side.

Pedestrian canyon trails start here with mandatory guides. You can leave your bike safely with them. There are also mountain bikes for rent here, and biking guides to explore Hells Gate National Park.
