フォルヒテンシュタイン城は、中世の城として、シュタイアーマルク州ノイマルクトの市場の城壁の北西隅に、東のゼータール・アルプスと西のグレベンツェンに挟まれた高台に位置しています。 ノイマルクトのフォルヒテンシュタイン城の名前は、古高ドイツ語の「forhten」（恐れる）とシュタインに由来すると言われています。 古くから、城の領地の経済的基盤は、関税収入の徴収と関税権の利用でした。 1956年、フォルヒテンシュタイン城は欧州連邦主義運動によって賃借されました。以来、この城は国際的な交流の場、アイデアのワークショップ、そして超党派的な欧州連邦主義と欧州統合の促進のための教育センターとなっています。 「この城が、文字通りの意味でも比喩的な意味でも、欧州の思想の要塞となりますように！」という考えのもと、城は2018年まで運営されていました。2018年、城は前所有者であるEFB Steiermarkから、象徴的な金額でEYFON財団（European Youth Forum Neumarkt）に移管されました。 フォルヒテンシュタイン城は、核となる部分に北西にある4階建ての塔状の家があります。塔状の家には、防御壁と他の建物が細長い長方形に接続されています。南東には、「市壁」と接続された建物があります。

Quick question, since we're traveling with a dog, the Steinschloss hike is also described as a hike without cow contact, is that really true? :-)

You can easily cycle past this ruin because it is untraceable. (I have searched the entire area, see photos with almost impassable paths)

Impressive view of the valley, upstream of the Mur.

The archway belongs to the Goppelsbach Castle behind it. The Mur cycle path leads through the archway and then continues along the property next to the Mur.

Excerpt from Wikipedia: In 1530, Wilhelm von Moosheim bought land from the Gurk Collegiate Foundation in Friesach and began building Goppelsbach Castle. This was completed in 1595 by Seifried von Moosheim. In 2005, the former third president of the Austrian National Council, Thomas Prinzhorn, acquired the castle and the associated 800 hectare forest. The archway belongs to this castle.
