Here, the trail runs along the Mohlsbach stream. The hiking trails are well marked.

The Saalbach Valley is one of my favorite areas to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Beautiful nature and easy-to-walk hiking trails.

Totally rustic area with many small streams and small ponds.

The Saalbach rises below the Ronsdorf comprehensive school, flows through the small but fine Ronsdorf dam and finally flows into the Gelpe. Together with this, it forms a protected running water system that offers biotopes for rare animal and plant species. The different habitats (e.g. damp and wet meadows, alluvial forest, etc.) are explained on display boards. Other display boards tell the story of the old hammer works and grinding huts, which inspired the Bergische steel and tool industry through the use of water power.

A hike through a typical mountainous landscape, which shows us the abundance of water in this area thanks to the many streams.

A small detour, which is worthwhile to refresh yourself under the waterfall.

In the approx. 2 km long Mohlsbachtal there are mostly moist to wet fallow grassland. Tall herbaceous meadows have developed here along the largely fenced-off stream. In sections, the stream is accompanied by trees on the banks of the alder. The Mohlsbach is mostly straightened and deepened, only in the upper section it has shorter, almost natural running routes. Several, mostly natural spring streams flow into the Mohlsbach, some of which flow through a beech forest and some through a spruce forest. The streams are locally accompanied by typical spring corridors and in some cases only carry water temporarily in drier summers.
