The manor house is a castle-like cubic structure with suggested side wings and corner turrets in strictly symmetrical, late-classical forms, two-tone exposed brickwork with flat hipped and gable roofs. It was built in 1866/1867 according to plans by the architect Georg Dollmann,[1] who worked for Ludwig II from 1868 onwards and designed several palace buildings for him. The manor house is located on the shore of the lake amidst a large park landscape, which was first designed by the court garden director Carl von Effner.[6] Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Seeseiten

The former country house of Ludwig von der Pfordten was designed by Georg von Dollmann and built in 1866/67.[1] It is one of the largest and most important villas on Lake Starnberg. It was purchased in 1872 by Rudolf Knosp, a Württemberg commercial councillor and co-founder of the "Baden Anilin and Soda Factory" (BASF).[2] Through his daughter, the later Henriette Baroness von Simolin-Bathory (née Knosp), the castle came into the possession of her son Rudolf von Simolin-Bathory. He bequeathed it to his illegitimate daughter Rudolfine von Simolin-Bathory Domeneck, who married Captain Le Tanneux von Saint Paul. Francine Le Tanneux von Saint Paul married August von Finck Jr.;[3][4] thus the property came into the possession of the von Finck family.[5] Source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Seeseiten

This imposing building was built between 1907 and 1909 in the historicist style and is currently privately owned, so unfortunately it cannot be visited. Over the years, the ownership and use of the castle changed several times: in 1943, the property came into the possession of the Nazi state and was a guest house for the Reich Foreign Ministry; the most prominent guest in 1943 was Benito Mussolini. Briefly owned by the US Army after the war, the castle was taken over by the US government, which set up and operated a seminary of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church there in 1946. Finally, in 1961, the castle came into the possession of the Federal Republic of Germany, which housed a training center for candidates for the senior civil service at the BND there until 2000. After that, the site changed hands several times. Further information about this interesting building can be found on Wikipedia at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Hirschberg_am_Haarsee.

Ammerland Castle is located on Lake Starnberg in the Ammerland district of the Münsing municipality. The hidden Old Castle dates back to the 16th century. The New Castle, which is located directly on the lake and has two onion domes, was probably built by Caspar Feichtmayr in 1683/85 in the style of the Wessobrunner School. It was renovated in 1990 after it had fallen into disrepair. Today it is privately owned. The complex is listed as a listed building in Ammerland under the file number D-1-73-137-23. It is also listed as an archaeological monument under the file number D-1-8034-0197 in the Bavaria Atlas as "underground early modern finds in the area of Ammerland Castle and its predecessor building ("Old Castle") with the castle chapel of the Three Kings, former farmyard and baroque gardens".
